On April 16th there was signed an agreement between the state education development agency and Olaine College of Mechanics and Technology concerning the realization of European regional development fund project "Modernization of OMTK premises and equipment for the purpose of study program improvement". In the framework of the project it is envisaged to make a mini-line of biotechnology, to mount wastewater treatment biological equipment, to fit up a heat pump and solar battery, to creat a modern food quality control laboratory and modernize a library. |

Pilot project "Eurenergy"![]() |
Since October, 2004 pilot project "Eurenergy" is realized. The length of the project is 3 years. 12 various institutions participate in it (universities, colleges, schools and the enterprises) from Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Spain and Latvia. Antonio Monako's Technical Institute in the Italian city of Cosenza supervises over the project . In March, 2005 the headmaster of the college Valery Krupsky and his first deputy Juris Gerasimovs were taking part in transnational conference of the pilot project „Eurenergy” in Italy (Cosenza). On June 12, 2006 the teachers from Technical institute of A.Monako from the South-Italian city of Kosentsa were visiting college. Together with our teachers they are realizing mobile and pilot projects within the framework of European program Leonardo da Vinci. Visitors got acquainted with an infrastructure of the college, were invited to a municipal duma in the Counsel of Olaine, saw Riga and Jurmala. During the meeting the partners agreed about the further cooperation. From October 5, 2006 till October 7 the headmaster deputy Juris Gerasimovs took part in transnational conference in the framework of Leonardo da Vinci pilotproject “Eurenergy” in Cosenza (Italy). From March 29, 2007 till March 30 the headmaster of Mechanics and technology college V. Krupsky and English teacher I. Bikovska took part in seminar in the framework of Leonardo da Vinci pilot Project in Cosenza (Italy), where they got acquainted with the results of the work of their cooperation partners which were from different countries – Italy, Spain, Austria and others. |
Mobility project "Perfetting of preparedness and competences of the pupils in different specialities corresponding to the EU![]() |
To perfect professional skills and to get to know German culture seven students from Mechanics and Technology College of Olaine (four environment technicians and three biotechnologist assistants) were in practice in Schverin ( Germany ) in the framework of Leonardo da Vinci mobility project “Acquiring New Skills According to the Demands of the EU”. The practice lasted from September 29 till October 30, 2008. During the practice the students were learning German and working in the labs determining lake water quality and biological diversity of fauna. From October 1 till November 2, 2007 four pupils - future environment technicians under the supervision of headmaster deputy Juris Gerasimovs went to Essen (Germany ) in the framework of Leonardo da Vinci mobility project. At first the students improved German skills in intensive courses. Together with German colleagues there are organized interesting and exciting free time activities. The pupils went to the musical STARLIGHT EXPRESS and had excursions to the Botanical garden, Bochum Ruhr University , Bochum Planetarium. They visited autumn fair in Dortmund and football match in the second largest football stadium in Germany – in Dortmund which has 80 thousand places for spectators. The match was watched by 72 200 fans. From October, 15 the pupils are having their practice in EMSCHERGENOSSENSSCHAFT company which was founded more than a hundred year ago. It deals with waste water treatment, ensuring water discharge, maintaining the reservoir and protecting from flood. Our pupils take water samples, explore and analyse them with the help of the most modern equipment; learn how to work observing the strict EU work protection norms. |
“LAT BRET Alternative energy”![]() |
From February 20 till March 6, 2007 in the framework of Comenius project “LAT BRET Alternative energy” 15 young people from Mechanics and Technology College of Olaine and 2 teachers were in France. It is a language exchange project. In the framework of the project the pupils perfected their knowledge in English and learned French as well. Besides all that our future environment technicians, mechanics and electricians got acquainted with the newest technologies in energy generation and with French culture and nature as well. From March 22 till April 5 in the framework of Comenius project “LAT BRET Alternative energy” 15 French students and 2 teachers of lyceum St.Joseph from the town called Vannes were visiting Olaine. French students together with Latvian students were improving their knowledge of English and learning Latvian as well. Besides all that the partners were exploring the possibilities of using alternative energy both in Latvia and Brittany . The college prepared a rich cultural program for the guests. |
“Water quality of the Baltic Sea – general research and suggestion”![]() |
On September 12, 2006 sixteen students and two teachers together with fourteen young people and two teacher of a similar school in Cirov (East Germany) realized the project “Water quality of the Baltic Sea – general research and suggestion”. Within the framework of the project the young people learned microbiology, visited the enterprises of Latvia, worked in college laboratories, learned Latvian From April, 18th till May, 1st in the city of Cirov (Germany) 16 pupils have continued realization of the project of the international cooperation of schools Comenius: investigated quality of water of Baltic sea, and also studied German language From November 22-25 the college was visited by the group of pupils of Oskarshamn gymnasium which is the partnerschool of Olaines College |
“The realization of qualification practices for the pupils of Mechanics and Tehnology College in AS Grindex”![]() |
From June 1, 2006 till June30, 2007 there was being realized the project “The realization of qualification practices for the pupils of Mechanics and Tehnology College in AS Grindex” with the support of European Social Foundation. The project was supervised by the head of the vocational school department Vija Lukashevica. In the framework of this project 25 pupils of the 4-th year were having their qualification practice. The pupils were ensured with the places for practice in AS Grindex due to their qualification and work under the supervision of experienced specialists. During the practice they learned about modern technologies. The pupils got stipends and compensation for transport expenses. The practice was being controlled by the college teachers such as L.Marinya, J.Knaidele, I.Arvanova, S.Pomozova. In cooperation with the specialists from AS Grindex there was worked out the qualification practice programmes according to nowadays technologies and the specific features of the enterprise. From June 15, 2005 till March 31, 2006 the project "Improvement of work of Olaines College on vocational counseling" the financing of which was carried out by the European found of social projects (ESF) was realized. Within the limits of the project advertising campaigns will be lead, advertising leaflets of college were let out, excursions on the enterprises are organized, the video clip for TV was created, updating a homepage of college on the Internet was supported, participation in an exhibition "School-2006" was provided. |
“The perfection and approbation of secondary vocational education programs in Mechanics and Technology College of Olaine”![]() |
From November, 7 2005 till July 6, 2006 there is being realized the project of European Social Foundation “The perfection and approbation of secondary vocational education programs in Mechanics and Technology College of Olaine”. During the project the teachers of college will work out and perfect the programs of vocational subjects and work out several methodological and teaching materials and will add to their knowledge and skills in vocational subjects. In the framework of the project 8 activities are done: 1) teacher Anna Valdniece is working out and approbating the methods of lab works in the subject called “The analysis of water, air and soil” in the secondary vocational education program Environment control and protection; 2) teacher Andrew Voronov is working out and approbating the curriculum in the subject called “General and element chemistry” in the secondary vocational education program Environment control and protection and Food production technology and equipment; 3) teacher Tatjana Reznika is working out and approbating the exercises in the subject called “Processes and apparatus” in the secondary vocational education program Environment control and protection and Biotehnology; 4) teacher Mara Gailuma is working upon English – Latvian explanatory dictionary of chemistry terms in the subject called “The techniques of lab works” in the secondary vocational education program Environment control and protection, Food production technology and equipment and Biotehnology; 5) teacher Velga Matute is working out and approbating the synopsis of lectures “Natural resources” in the subject “Environment studies” in the secondary vocational education program Environment control and protection, Food production technology and equipment and Biotehnology; 6) teacher Ludmila Marinya is working out and approbating the teaching aid in the subject called “Mikrobiology” in the secondary vocational education program Environment control and protection, Food production technology and equipment and Biotehnology; 7) teacher Andrew Voronov is working out and approbating the synopsis of lectures in the subject called "The methds of physically chemical analysis” in the secondary vocational education program Food production technology and equipment; 8) teacher Valery Krupsky is working out and approbating the teaching aid in the subject called “The technology of biochemistry preparations production” in the secondary vocational education program Biotehnology. |
